AllFive XP Version History
The latest version of AllFive XP is version 3.03 (released on 4 October 2005). The changes made in each previous version are below.
Version 3.03
4 October 2005
- Added 12-hour mode to on-screen clock (to cycle between 12-hour, 24-hour and game time modes, click the clock)
- Removed "Return to menu" keyboard shortcut F2 because it was easy to hit accidentally instead of 2, especially on laptop keyboards
- Fixed bug where, if you played with "Show Potential Scores" off, and entered scores with the keyboard, your totals didn't show up either until the very end of the game. They do now!
- Fixed bug where final score was occasionally not credited
Version 3.02
30 January 2005
- Fixed bug where pressing "Y" on the keyboard during the game would quit the program
- Removed nag message from welcome screen (thank you very much to all users who donated (total of £76.20 of which £60.50 went to Third World charity Tearfund); there just weren't enough of you to justify annoying everyone else!
Version 3.01
3 June 2004
- Added the ability to make tracks repeat until you click Next (particularly for use with the Wave Music pack). The repeating unfortunately has a tiny delay, but there's nothing I can do about that. To enable the new setting, open allfive.ini in your game folder, and under the entries "Music=X" and "Random=X" add "Repeat=1".
Full Release Version 3.0
30 April 2004
- Fixed bug where pressing the U key would undo in certain cases after the dice were rolled
- Removed in-game expiry date and changed message password
- Default record score holder is now AllFive XP
Release Candidate 3
11 April 2004
- Keyboard shortcuts have been added for some items that missed them
- 23-digit keys should no longer be erroneously issued in certain cases
- The popup message advising users of a dice randomisation survey in RC2 should not have been there and has now been removed
- When adding new items to the Music Playlist, artist and title (ID3v1) information is used instead of the filename where available
Note that this change may affect existing playlists; if you experience problems, reload your list. - "Empty playlist" and "Music off" messages should now be displayed correctly
Release Candidate 2
24 March 2004
- Length of player names now limited to the eqivalent of fifteen i's (iiiiiiiiiiiiiii) to correct display problems with some statistics information
- The option 'Show in brackets under Upper Bonus whether I am on target to reach it' no longer interferes with the option 'Show potential scores in the appropriate rows and when I move my mouse over each score box'
- When an item with a long name in the Music Playlist is stopped, the text no longer runs to two lines
- In the Double Game the Grand Totals are now correctly positioned
- The annoying confirmation popup for not displaying the game summary window again has been replaced by a more passive message that doesn't require you to click OK
- AllFive Guide, Bonus popup and Joker popup, as well as the game summaries, can now be enabled or disabled in the new Prompts tab under Options
- Probabilities may now display correctly (please report any further issues)
- AllFive Bonus and Joker prompts now presented in a less intrusive information box
- The Menu command in-game and on the Game Over box now returns to the New Game screen rather than the initial menu screen; this should make selecting different players for another game that little bit quicker
- There is a new option under Other Options, which allows you to select whether or not the player order is randomised at the start of a game. If the option is unticked, play order follows the sequence of the player list.
- To reduce confusion, the first player on each new game is clearly announced in the centre of the screen, except when playing a solo game
- New install program, without confusing Clickteam credit message
Release Candidate 1
11 January 2004
- You can now have AllFive choose a random picture from a selected folder on your computer for each new game. The new option is under Background Picture in Options
- A brief explanation of each game type is displayed the first time you play it and can be redisplayed at any time by clicking the game type name at the top right corner of the main game screen
- Fixed bug where no new key was generated for certain new records
- Made validation key display in a box from which key can be copied
- Version checking introduced: for security reasons only scores achieved in Release Candidate 1 or later can now be accepted for the Halls of Fame
- Fixed bug where Double Player 1 was awarded AllFive Bonus twice
- Fixed bug where clicking very near to the edge of certain score boxes added the score to both
- Added error message when you try to throw the dice but are holding them all (as if you would!); previously if you did this all the boxes set themselves to zero.
- The AllFive Joker (which allows a maximum score in Full House, Low Straight or High Straight when you get an AllFive and both your AllFive box and the corresponding Upper Section box are already full) should now function correctly, and—finally—according to the proper rules, in all modes; explanatory message also added
- Probabilities and asterisks now recalculated correctly after an Undo
- "Probability of getting four" on each Upper Section box now correctly shows 100% when you have an AllFive
- Some tweaks made to other probabilities, including Full House
- System sound no longer occurs when using the in-game keyboard controls after having clicked 'Throw Dice' with the mouse
- Fixed bug where keyboard controls were being detected outside the game when Game Over box or Additional Statistics was displayed
- All score boxes, bonuses and totals can now properly handle the three, four and five-figure scores you get in Percentage without spilling over the edges
Beta 5
26 December 2003
- "Best without AllFive" and "Worst with at least one AllFive" statistics now actually work
- "Most AllFives" statistic should now actually work
- Halls of Fame live and online in this version!
Beta 4
30 October 2003
- The fanfare AllFive sound has returned!
- The AllFive 2000 MIDI playlists have returned - expanded! To use them, select one of the six (yes, six) categories from the dropdown list under the playlist box in Options, and click the 'Add to list' button to stick them in your playlist. You can add as many of these included music sets to your list as you like, and remove them the same way you do other songs.
- Music Playlist track randomiser now repeats tracks less often
- Music picks up where it left off on each game restart or new game rather than starting a new track
- AllFive Bonus is no longer incorrectly awarded when its box in one or more columns is zeroed out (all modes)
- Upper Bonus is now correctly awarded even when gained in the last throw of a Percentage game
- Upper Bonus tally (3/18, 6/18, etc) is now displayed properly for all four players
- Several other issues fixed
- New, more modern looking installation program
Beta 3
24 July 2003
- Probability Calculation now available (off by default; to turn it on, tick its box in Other Options)
- Additional Statistics screen now operational with statistics on the fastest and slowest single player games, the best score achieved without (and the worst with) an AllFive, and Upper Section scores. The Additional Statistics screen will eventually contain one or two more as well - it's not finished yet
- New graphical dice effects: colour-inversion and semi-transparency
- New option to show/hide Upper Bonus on-target indicators
- New Background Picture Library - Windows XP desktop images have been removed (it wasn't really legal to distribute them separately from Windows) and some nice fully licenced ones taken by my brother and me have been added
- Dice should now be positioned more squarely on circles when held
- New rules for the Percentage Game Upper Bonus: if you score a total of 18 or more actual dice (that's equivalent to three in each box) in the upper section, you'll get a bonus of 35% of your total at the time the bonus is awarded. Before the bonus is awarded, the figure in the Upper Bonus row (eg. "3/18") shows how many of these 18 dice have been scored so far. In other game types, as before, this figure shows how far ahead or behind your target you are, in points.
- AllFive Bonus should now work correctly in all modes
- "Most AllFives" should now be calculated correctly in all modes
- Option to reject AllFive Bonus score - useful for Contract
- Contract Game Record Score Table should now be working
- Randomiser should no longer fail on first roll, giving an uncredited AllFive of ones
- I have made an alteration that may lower the frequency of AllFives
- Game fonts Tahoma and Trebuchet MS are now installed separately on demand rather than as part of the game's own installation program; this reduces the size slightly as well as solving the "missing text until computer restart" problem for most users.
Beta 2
30 March 2003
- "Most AllFives" statistic should now be awarded to correct player
- Keyboard shortcuts now inactive when AllFive XP not active window
- Statistics for non-Standard game types are now correctly displayed when returning to New Game screen
- Music Song Length is now in mins:secs rather than just seconds
- You can now hover over a game type on the New Game screen to view a brief description; in later versions there'll be even more help on the main screen
- Double Upper Bonus in second column should now calculate correctly
- Cursor no longer incorrectly changes to pointing hand icon when over certain hidden buttons
- Game Timer stays on one line even when it hits 10 minutes
