Speed Racer Version History

The latest version of Speed Racer is version 1.2 (released on 16 October 2005). The changes made in each previous version are below.

New install program
When a record lap time was achieved on the last lap of a race, the End of Race announcement congratulated "No-one" for a new record of 99s. This problem has been solved by generalising the message to read simply "New lap record".
Routes on some tracks that should have been impossible now are
Number of wins of each player now displayed at the end of each race and on the menu screen, making mini-tournaments possible
Buttons now use the Windows XP visual style where available
Manual updated and changed from Microsoft Word to Adobe PDF

Fixed issue where game would stutter whenever background music looped (a particular problem with Forest Rally whose music is short)

New Bronze, Silver and Gold Target Times for each track and corresponding Awards
Cruise Control and Fuel Consumption are now Bronze Awards
Secret Track now Silver Award; bug fixed (properly this time!) that awarded it immediately on certain systems
Sometimes Best Laps didn't match Record Laps; this is now fixed
Now runs in a window when resolution is 1024x768 or higher; you can still maximise it to full screen if you like
Several very small things tweaked and improved
